The BCCI is currently working on a T20 points tournament for women. It is expected to be called the Women’s T20 League and the five applicant clubs will be formed through a player auction in February. The women’s T20 league is also organized similar to the Indian Premier League. The Women’s T20 Challenge, which began as a two-team competition in 2018 and then expanded to a three-team exhibition tournament in 2019 and two more in 2020 and 2022, will give way to the competition. The BCCI last month invited bids for media rights for the five-team tournament scheduled from 2023 to 2027.
