Rose Bowl Cricket Ground – Southampton is a new testing ground in England, hosting its first game only in 2011. The Rose Bowl has only hosted six Tests so far with most matches in England being held in many cricket venues in the north.
However, its importance has increased during the COVID-19 crisis, as it also has a four-star hotel attached to the stadium where players can stay without leaving the complex.

Southampton has a reputation for being one of the most friendly places to visit in England. It is on the south coast of the country and the weather can be pleasant, although it is England after all, things can change quickly.

The Rose Bowl, currently known as the Ageas Bowl for some funding reasons, is a cricket ground in West End, Hampshire, England. It is the home of Hampshire County Cricket Club, who have been there since the summer of 2001. The stadium has been used to host one-day internationals including some of the 2004 Champions Trophy matches. Two T20 internationals have also been played here, as well as Test matches in 2011, 2014 and 2018 when England played Sri Lanka and India respectively.
Hampshire had used their previous ground, the County Ground, Northlands Road in Southampton since 1985. But it was a cramped area, surrounded by residential buildings which meant that increasing the land was impossible. But Hampshire wanted to promote international cricket in the State, which would not have been possible at Newlands Road. That talk of a new stadium went around and eventually a site was chosen just outside Southampton in the village of West End. Hampshire’s first scheduled match at the Rose Bowl was a List A match in the 2001 Benson and Hedges Cup against Essex on 2 May. Although the game was stopped without a kick being thrown due to a difficult draw, the first match completed at this ground was a List A match in the same competition against Surrey on 4th May. A game that Hampshire surprisingly lost.
The first few years were marked by insufficient wickets in favor of seam bowling, which led to many low-scoring combinations over the years. The quality of these areas has drawn much criticism. But as the pitches stay, the high scores are more common. Plans were called for the construction of two parallel stands on either side of the pavilion to increase the permanent capacity to just over 15,000. The restructuring plans led to the ECB giving the Rose Bowl test status. The two ends are the Pavilion End and the Northern End.

The lowest team total of 178 was scored by India against England in the same match itself. The Rose Bowl hosted its first Test match on 16–20 June 2011. It was between England and Sri Lanka. The last match was when India played England in the summer of last year. Top scorers are Ian Bell- 309 runs, Alastair Cook- 249 runs and Gary Ballance 194. The team’s highest score on this ground is an astonishing 248 for 6 which was scored by Australia against England in 2013. A match in which Aaron Finch scored 156 runs in just 63 balls. The lowest team score is 79 runs, which was scored by Australia against England in a match where they chased 179 runs.
