With good support from Shardul Thakur who perished on 33 then India fell behind as a series of wickets put South Africa back on top . India needed 30 in the final over and Samson raised hopes by taking the first wicket for 6 but in the end, he managed to make 20 in total. He remained unbeaten on 86 off 63.
Sanju Samson lifted India’s hopes and left the South Africans reeling as he scored 20 runs in the final over of the chase, bowled by Tabraiz Shamsi. However, that was not enough as India fell short of the target by 10 runs. South Africa then took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series as they beat India by 9 runs in Lucknow. India end on 240/8 in 40 Overs in reply to South Africa’s 249/4.
