Glamorgan County Cricket Club (Welsh: Criced Morgannwg) is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the framework of domestic cricket in Wales. It refers to the historic county of Glamorgan (Welsh: Morgannwg). Formed in 1888, Glamorgan originally held minor positions and were prominent members of the Minor Counties Championship prior to the First World War. In 1921, the club joined the County League and the team was promoted to the First Division, playing in every major domestic cricket tournament in England and Wales.

Glamorgan is Wales’ only first-class cricket club. They won the English County Championship in 1948, 1969 and 1997. Glamorgan have beaten international teams from every Test-playing nation, including Australia, who were defeated on successive tours in 1964 and 1968. Kit colors are blue and yellow for limited overs matches.

The club is based in Cardiff and plays most of its home games at Sophia Gardens on the banks of the River Taff. Matches are also occasionally played in Swansea, Colwyn Bay and Cresselly (although the latter towns are in Dublin and Pembrokeshire respectively).
Cricket probably came to Wales and Glamorgan in the 17th century. The first known sight of cricket in Glamorgan was a match at Swansea in 1780.
The formation of Glamorgan CCC took place on 6 July 1888 at a meeting at the Angel Hotel in Cardiff.
The club competed in the minor leagues for several years and applied for premiership after the First World War.

Glamorgan CCC played their first first-class match against Sussex CCC at Cardiff Arms Park on 18–20 May 1921, increasing the County Championship to 17 teams. Riches won the first match against Glamorgan by 23 runs. They had just one win that summer; Glamorgan finished bottom of the table on a 14-game losing streak.
Glamorgan won the County Championship in 1948 under the captaincy of Wilf Wooler, whose high quality fielding was key to defeating strong batting and bowling teams.
On August 31, 1968, in Glamorgan v Notts at Swansea, Gary Sobers hit six balls off Malcolm Nash for a six.
Glamorgan won the championship again under Tony Lewis in 1969 and Matthew Maynard in 1997. Lewis is the only Glamorgan player to have captained the national team in Tests and the first Glamorgan cricketer to captain an international tour against India and Pakistan. In 1972. –73. Maynard, who retired at the end of the 2005 season, has been one of the most successful batsmen in first-class cricket over the past 20 years. The 2005 captain, Robert Croft, was effective on tours and was the man of the match in List A one-day games.
