A Brief History Of The Cricket World Cup
The West Indies team boasts some of the best names in world cricket and while they have plenty of depth in the batting line-up, their fearsome pace attack can take the edge off any innings. Vivian Richards is one of the most lethal batsmen in the Windies team which is led by Clive Lloyd. is the strongest pace attack cricket has ever seen in a team.
But with nothing to lose, Kapil led from the front at the start of a new era for Indian cricket. Batting first, India posted just 183 runs. Although it was a decent total considering the pace of the Windies, it was not respectable considering the Windies batting line-up. After Sunil Gavaskar (2) was dismissed early, Krishnamachari Srikkanth (38 off 57) and Mohinder Amarnath (26 off 80) added a valuable 57 stand for the second wicket followed by other important strikes by Sandeep Patil (27 off 29) and Kapil (15 off 8). He did not forget the contributions of India’s type-enders, as Madan Lal (17 off 27), Syed Kirmani (14 off 43) and Balwinder Sandhu (11 * off 30) did not throw their wickets away.

Dhoni, who won the World Twenty20 in 2007 and the Champions League in 2013 is the only captain to win all three ICC titles.

Who Won The First T20 World Cup?
While cricket became a national obsession, it also forced the rest of the world to believe that Asian teams could win the World title.
The West Indies, England and Australia are the pre-tournament favourites. And India defied the odds by winning the prestigious title by defeating England and West Indies in the semi-final and final respectively.
India met Australia and West Indies twice in the Group stage and recorded one win and one loss each against the two heavyweights. However, their most memorable and decisive victory in the series came in the quarter-final, when they defeated Zimbabwe by 31 runs, courtesy of a special Kapil Dev.
Firstly, India’s start was poor as they lost their star opener Sunil Gavaskar for just two matches. And after that, Kris Srikkanth (38 runs off 57 balls) and Mohinder Amarnath (26 runs off 80 balls) played decent cricket to take the Indian batting forward. But their dismissal led to a collapse of the batting as India were bundled out for 183 in 54.4 overs.
Sharing World Cup ‘something That Should Be Considered’
Apart from Srikkanth and Amarnath, Sandeep Patil is the only player to cross the 20-run mark. He scored 27 runs off 29 deliveries and was India’s second highest run-getter in the match behind Srikkanth.
Although 183 was not a huge target, especially against two-time champions West Indies, who had the likes of Desmond Haynes, Vivian Richards and Clive Lloyd in their line-up.
However, India did the impossible by bowling out West Indies for 142 in 52 overs and winning the tournament by 43 runs.
Balwinder Sandhu took two wickets while Kapil and Roger Binny took one wicket each. It is generally agreed that that win changed cricket in India and the rest, as they say, is history. It is a story of endless courage, steadfast determination and faith that gave birth to a group of eleven global rebels. which will bring down giants hard enough to send ripples across the fabric of time and space. It is the story of India lifting the ICC Cricket World Cup for the first time in the history of the tournament and it is against the unstoppable juggernauts who ruled the world before that, the West Indies.

India’s qualification for the final will bring the whole country together, although they know they are up against a star-studded West Indies that includes Gordon Greenidge, Desmond Haynes, Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd and the speedy troika of Holding, Garner and Roberts. . .
Realizing that India’s Achilles heel is their batting, Lloyd will come out to bowl first and his bowlers will immediately produce shares as the iconic Sunil Gavaskar departs for a paltry 2 on the cards. Andy Roberts will be fast enough to pass Master Blaster and Dujon will take it comfortably.
From 90 for 2, India would be reeling at 130 for 7, with Garner and Larry Gomes leaving the nasty business of probing the Indians with bowlers and spinners alike. Two important partnerships would eventually help India reach 183, which though modest for an opponent like the West Indies would raise fighting hopes.
India would immediately retaliate as Balwinder Sandhu would wear the perfect ripper to kiss Gordon Greenidge’s wood, sending the crowd into an explosion of wild excitement. Despite Greenidge’s early exit, it would be a decent partnership between Desmond Haynes and Vivian Richards that would steady the ship before Madan Lal forced them to take unwanted routes that would go straight through Roger Binny and Dev Kapil’s gullet respectively.
