Cummins’ stunning knock saw Kolkata Knight Riders chase down a 162-run target with four overs to spare. The Australian finished with an unbeaten 56 off just 15 deliveries with fours and sixes.
Interestingly, Cummins missed the team’s opening three matches due to international commitments, making his debut in the current league campaign. He came out of isolation on his return from Pakistan earlier this week.
Opting to strike after winning the toss earlier, KKR saw Mumbai Indians recover to 161 for four in the 11th over from 55/3. Suryakumar Yadav returned to MI after missing their first two matches and was the team’s top scorer with 52 from 36 innings, while youngster Tilak Varma was also crucially unbeaten on 38 off 27 deliveries.
In reply, Knight Riders chased down the target of 162 off 24 balls thanks to Cummins’ incredible knock and Venkatesh Iyer’s unbeaten 50.
