Cricket Khabar – “I won’t be happy with myself”: Virender Sehwag’s surprising statement on Shubman Gill in IPL 2023 Virender Sehwag gave an interesting piece of advice to Shubman Gill after his brilliant form in IPL 2023.
Former Indian cricket team opener Virender Sehwag believes Shubman Gill should not be satisfied with his current form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and the Gujarat Titans opener needs to improve his numbers. Gill currently has 469 runs from 11 matches in this year’s competition after managing 483 runs in IPL 2022. However, Sehwag cautioned against any kind of complacency that comes with this form and said Gill’s aim should be to end the season with 600-700 runs.
“It should have been better. His 375 in 10 games should be around 550 by the end of the season. He has played in all formats for India, scored big and should use his form better. When he finishes the season, it is possible that he has 600-700 runs,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

“If I were Shubman Gill, I would not be happy with myself. I was in good form and scored 375 runs. But not much improvement. The numbers may have improved a bit, but they are pretty marginal. He looks good playing his shots and comes out with positive intent. But overall, the numbers haven’t changed much. I hope that in the last four matches he will really show the class that he has shown for the Indian team. I want a century from him,” Sehwag added.
Gill smashed an unbeaten 94 and Wriddhiman Saha a brutal 81 as Gujarat Titans piled up 227 for two – the fourth highest total of the season – against Lucknow Super Giants.
Saha and Gill hit the ground running from the start and added 142 runs for the first wicket in just 12.1 overs, setting a franchise record for the highest partnership for any wicket as LSG had no respite despite the deployment of eight bowlers in the attack.
It was also the second best stand by any team for any wicket in this IPL and for Gujarat Titans, the total was their highest ever in the IPL since their debut last season.
I Wouldn’t Be Happy With Myself
Saha hit a total of four sixes and 10 fours to make 81 off 43 balls, while Gill started a bit late but finished close to what would be a brilliant maiden IPL century, hitting seven sixes and two fours in his 51-ball knock.
With 65 against Chennai Super Kings here in the season opener, the Saha-Gill pair were in full swing and added 78 runs in the first six overs, scoring 13 runs per over.

A rare bad season for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) this year, and especially for India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, did not bring anything positive for the 33-year-old until he returned to the Indian team during the England tours.
For a quick overhaul, not only did Jadeja step down as CSK captain after a losing streak almost kicked the franchise out of the league, but his personal form with bat and ball also hit rock bottom. Additionally, a few games later, just when it seemed like things couldn’t get any worse, he was ruled out for the rest of the season with a rib injury.
The previous Sunday, the star all-rounder played a crucial knock of 35 (29) under pressure and his half-century partnership with Hardik Pandya (33* off 17) took the team home against Pakistan in their first match of the ongoing Asia . Cup 2022.

Next World Cup Cricket T20
During a press conference ahead of today’s match against Hong Kong, Jadeja was asked to comment on one such rumor about his dropping out of India’s T20 World Cup squad.
The 33-year-old exclaimed in response: “Aap ne toh bohot choti baat kahi ki main nahi hu World Cup mein. Beech mein toh khabar aayi thi ki main marr gaya hu. Toh issey badi khabar toh ho hi nahi sakti.”
(The news that I have been named as a member of the T20 squad for the World Cup is nowhere near the one who said I was actually dead. It can’t be bigger news than that).
“So yeah, I don’t think much about it. My thing is simple – go to the ground, play well and that’s it,” he further added.

Talking about the India-England Test last year at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India beat the English by 10 wickets. Batting first, England were bowled out for just 112, but India themselves were bowled out for 145.
