Recent matches at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium have seen first innings scores of 163 runs on average, suggesting a potentially high contest. The terrain at this site made it easier to score races, increasing the likelihood of another racing festival. However, spinners can threaten in the middle of the overs by taking advantage of the circumstances. The dew will also impact the end stages of the game.
Despite winning four chances this season in the Chases, teams have often won more games at this site by batting first. It will be an intriguing match between the two teams here in the first IPL qualifier 2023 as GT has a capable spinner in Rashid Khan and CSK has Jadeja and Moeen Ali. The Pacers have dominated over the last three years, taking 56% of the wickets while the Spinners have taken the remaining 44%.

Csk Vs Kkr: Pitch Report, Venue Stats, Squad
Chennai will host its first one day international match after December 2019. Construction work was underway on the arena, it is now completed and the new grandstands are open to the public. The ground has hosted ODI cricket since 1987 and has so far hosted 23 international matches over fifty years.
The stadium ground in Chennai has been a spinner’s paradise if we look at the field records. Continuing on this pitch is not easy as the pitch dries out as the match progresses making it difficult to hit in the latter part of the match. So a wise decision here will be to choose to bat first and set a total of 280+.
In 23 ODI matches, only 8 times the score was successfully chased here. However, in the final ODI at Chepauk Ground, West Indies beat chasing India for 287 runs. It was the largest total chased at Chepauk Cricket Stadium. The match was held in the month of December and the ground in Chennai was fastest in the second leg that day.
The last ODI match at the venue was played between India and West Indies in 2019. The visitors won this match by 8 wickets.
