The big-hitting Lin was on Monday night named for a place in the tournament in the UAE as host of high-profile foreign stars, which will clash directly with Bigg Boss.

A number of BBL draft nominees were also named, meaning they will play the first half of the Australian competition before traveling to the UAE in early January, where teams are currently owned by Indian Premier League franchises.

Australian officials have long hoped this would be the case for draft players and plans have been made around it, with Test stars likely to return to the BBL. But Lin’s inclusion in the EU’s list does not sit well with CA

As per ICC rules, every player competing in an overseas T20 franchise league needs a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their home board for home features. Lynn no longer holds a national or state contract, but Australia will still be considered his home base by the ICC.

CA officials have yet to receive a request for such a certificate for Lin and clarified that there is no guarantee it will be granted.

A CA spokesperson said: “Cricket Australia has not received any application for an NOC regarding the participation of players in any overseas competition for the upcoming season. Our guiding principle is to prioritize and protect the interests of cricket and the game in Australia’s domestic summer.

Current players’ contracts also state that NOCs are usually issued outside the Australian summer when state cricket ends for the IOP and grade cricket ends for all other leagues.

Despite moving to Brisbane late last summer, Lynn will still be a crowd-puller and a magnet for TV viewers in one of the eight Big Boss franchises.

Interest has been shown and talks have been held with Adelaide, but the reality is no club can match the $650,000 maximum salary in the UAE.

CA also has some question marks over the legality of sanctioning the UAE league, which will welcome 72 foreign players, 12 in each team.

The issue was raised last month at a meeting of the national association owners, who believe that the ICC charter stipulates an allowance of only 9 foreign players per league.

The list of players coming from UAE includes BBL draft candidates Alex Hales, Sandeep Lamichane, Mujeeb ul Rahman, Evin Lewis, Colin Munro, James Vince and Dan Lawrence.

Good news for the BBL, the positive talk of David Warner’s return to the BBL continues even after he last played in the Australian league in 2013. In just over a month, this summer’s Big Bass League season will kick off with the fixture list. officially launched
