Afghanistan Qualify Tournament, Ready For 2019 Cricket World Cup

The 2019 Cricket World Cup begins in London on Thursday, with England hosting South Africa in the English capital.

Over the next six weeks, 10 teams will fight for the title of world champion. From a new format, England’s chances of winning their first World Cup title to the usual controversies not far from the game, there are plenty of talking points ahead of the match.

The edition of the World Cup will take place from May 30 to July 14 and will be played in 10 stadiums in England and one in Wales. This will be England’s fifth time hosting the tournament, after 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1999.

The first match kicks off at 10:30 a.m. local time (5:30 a.m. ET) on Thursday, when England take on South Africa. A complete list of devices is available here.

The group stage follows a round-robin format, with all 10 teams playing each other once. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals, where the top-ranked team will face the fourth-place team and the second-place team will play the third-place team.

Confusingly, although the number of teams in the tournament has been reduced, the new format will see the World Cup last longer than usual.

The World Cup is structured according to one-day international rules, with each team playing 50 bowl games—weather permitting—over a 210-minute time frame. Six balls are thrown for each dominant.
